W. P. Dumas, Lawyer, Dies, William P. Dumas, 55, widely known Texas bond attorney, died in a local hospital at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday following an illness of several months. Assistant Attorney General of Texas from 1917 to 1922, Dumas had practices law in Dallas since, and was considered an authority on municipal bonds and securities. He served many years as attorney for the Dallas City and County Levee Improvement Association. Born in Terrell, Kaufman County, his body will be returned there Thursday for burial. Dumas was a member of the First Baptist Church here. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty Dumas; one brother, Clark Dumas, all of Dallas, and two sisters, Mrs. Norman Elliott, Placerville, Calif, and Mrs. Howard Shannon, Caney, Kan. He had been a law partner of A. B. Huguenin since June 1946. Dumas was a residence of 4810 Montrose Drive. Services Thursday 10 a.m. Sparkman-Brand Chapel, Dr. W. A. Criswell officiating. Interment Terrell, Texas. Pallbearers: Bace Huguenin, A. P. Johnston, D. G. Fox, G. J. Buettner, Truitt Helms, Dr. Dan Brannin, George Hemmingson, Louis Stayart.
