ABILENE (Staff) -- Services for Daniel Franklin Goats, 86, of Abilene will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Southside Baptist Church here with burial in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott Funeral Home.
Goats, a retired welder and gunsmith, died 9:15 p.m. Monday in Williamsburg Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 3, 1865 in Runnels County, he was reared in Content. He was married to Jimmie L. Lee Smith Dec. 25, 1905, there. They made their home in Content until moving to Abilene in 1911. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. His wife died in 1969.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Stuart of Abilene; two sons, William G. Goats of Abilene, Joe M. Goats of Fort Worth; two brothers, Lloyd Goats of Monahans, B. G. Goats of Winters; four sisters, Mrs. Mamie Curry of Odessa, Mrs. Ethel Jenkins, Mrs. Bessie Browsen of Abilene, Mrs. Emma Clary of San Angelo; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
