Willoughby John "Willie" Carmack was born May 1847 in Coffee County, Tennessee to Samuel B. Carmack and Mary "Polly" G. Davis Carmack. The Carmack family migrated from Edgecombe County, North Carolina with some members of Polly Davis Carmack's family between 1845-1847. Polly G. Davis was the daughter of Jonathan Davis and Sarah Green Davis of Edgecombe Co., NC. The family of Samuel and Polly Carmack were listed in Coffee County, Tennessee census records in 1850. Samuel B. and Polly moved to Hardeman County, Tennessee, where the family is listed in the 1860 census records. Some of the Carmack family were listed in Gibson County, Tennessee in the 1870 census records. Willoughby John Carmack married Eliza Jane Cannon (recorded on April 24, 1867) in Gibson county, Tennessee. Willoughby and Eliza Jane Carmack moved to El Paso, White Co., Ar. before 1880. Their family was listed in the 1880 census living in El Paso, White Co., Arkansas along with two of Willie's brothers, Pellam Poinsett Carmack and Jonathan Robert Carmack, who were located nearby in the Royal Township. About 1895 Pell and Willie Carmack moved their families to Argenta, North Little Rock, Arkansas where their families are located in the 1900 census. Burial records for Willie and Eliza Jane Carmack have been found in the cemetery office in this cemetery with location of burial plots. However, the markers for their graves have sunk below the ground.
