The name of Browneville, Ala., was changed in 1889 to Phenix City, which was entirely in Lee County at that time.


Burial record from the sexton's ledger book shows: Eugenia Allen was born in Georgia, died aged 24 years of the flu, and was buried May 17, 1884, in the Letter A addition, Lot 1292 [sic - should be 1202] as a non-resident of Columbus, Geo. The sexton then was Abraham Odom.
