Professional Football Player. A graduate of North Carolina State University, he was selected in the 2002 National Football League draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent 7 years in the NFL as a former defensive end for the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers, before becoming a free agent for the 2009 season. He died in a boating accident in the Gulf of Mexico after the 21 foot boat in which he was a passenger overturned in rough seas during a fishing trip off the Florida coast. Also dying in the boating mishap was Marquis Cooper, a current member of the Oakland Raiders football team, and former University of South Florida football player Will Bleakley. Nick Schuyler, a fourth member of the fishing party was eventually found alive by the United States Coast Guard following an extensive air and sea rescue search.
