Dr. Sextus Barbour was the sixth child of U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Philip Pendleton Barbour [May 25, 1783 - Feb 24, 1841] and Frances Todd Johnson Barbour [Dec. 11, 1787 - Apr. 1, 1872]. He was initially buried in the Presbyterian Churchyard in St. Louis -- AKA the Lucas Burial Ground. It was located at 16th and Lucas Place (now Locust) He was moved to Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah C. Barbour and re-interred on March 1, 1859 with his brother, Dr. Thomas Barbour and his niece, Helen Adele Barbour.
