| Birth: | Jul. 26, 1813 Orange County Virginia, USA | | Death: | Dec. 20, 1848 Saint Louis St. Louis City Missouri, USA |  Dr. Sextus Barbour was the sixth child of U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Philip Pendleton Barbour [May 25, 1783 - Feb 24, 1841] and Frances Todd Johnson Barbour [Dec. 11, 1787 - Apr. 1, 1872]. Both he and his brother Thomas, also a physician, died of cholera -- Sextus in late 1848 and Thomas in June of 1849. Sextus never married.
He was initially buried in the Presbyterian Churchyard in St. Louis -- AKA the Lucas Burial Ground. It was located at 16th and Lucas Place (now Locust) He was moved to Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah C. Barbour and re-interred on March 1, 1859 with his brother, Dr. Thomas Barbour and his niece, Helen Adele Barbour.
