Son of William Craig Burt and Margaret Gilmour

Married Janet Hilton, 11 Apr 1878, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah

Children - Allen Hilton Burt, John Louis Burt, Charles William Staines Burt, Wallace Burt, James Burt, Annie Hilton Burt, Marion Marguerite Burt

History: John Burt, along with his father, worked as a plasterer on many significant buildings in Utah, including the St. George LDS Temple. While working on the St. George Temple, John fell about 80 feet from the exterior scaffolding. He was hurt, but it was not a fatal fall. He was back to work on the temple within 2 weeks of his fall. Many have attributed John's survival to a promise Brigham Young made during the ground breaking of the temple site; Brigham Young declared no one would be killed during the construction of the temple, and while several men were hurt, no one was killed.
