Uriel B. Todd

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully Friday Morning, January 29, 2007 in Mapleton, Utah. He was reunited with his 'Mommy Girl' Helen, who passed away seven months ago.

Uriel was born on June 29, 1917, the son of Boyd Henry Todd and Fern Idona Johnson. Dad was born in a small tent in Nelson, California, located in the northern part of the state. He grew up in Modesto, California, and graduated from Modesto High School in June of 1935.

During the depression of the 30's, Uriel helped his family earn a living working next to his father. His first job after high school was in the building contracting business. Next came a job with Montgomery Ward, where he met his sweetheart and the love of his life, Helen Heiny. They were married on October 2, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple. A week after their marriage, Uriel left to serve a mission in the Central States Mission, serving mostly in Colorado and Nebraska. Their first child, Bruce, was born while he was on his mission and was 15 months old before Uriel first saw him.

Uriel held many church positions, but the one he loved most was serving among the Shivwits Indians in southern Utah. The Todd family lived in Reno, Nevada, and the Utah communities of St. George, Price, Orem, Salt Lake, North Salt Lake and Mapleton. Uriel and Helen loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many countries and historical sites around the world. As a senior couple, they were blessed with the opportunity to serve in the Texas San Antonio Mission.

Uriel leaves behind his loving children: Barton (Pam) Todd, Laurelle (Alex) Rollo, Clark (Pat) Todd, Conrad (Peggy) Todd, Brian (Kathie) Todd, 24 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren; sisters, Vida, Leola, Rita, Elva; and one brother, Leith. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Helen, his oldest son, Bruce (Lola) Todd, Idona, and Nadine (sisters), and Noel (brother).

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at the Mapleton Stake Center located at 970 North 400 East in Mapleton, Utah. Interment will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery following the services.
