Passed away February 14, 2009 in her 102nd year at Harmony Court (Canada Way Care Centre), Burnaby where she had been resident for 2 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell, in November 1958 and she leaves 2 sons, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grands.
Lou was born in Bolton, Lancashire on May 5, 1907 and came to Canada In 1912. She attended Kaslo High School in the early 20's and was married to Russell in 1925. They lived in Kaslo until, 1952 when they and Lou's parents, Kate and Will Billings moved to the corner of North Road and Lougheed Hwy in Burnaby. Following the death of her husband and parents Lou moved to Sapperton where she became a member of Shilo United Church. She was an active member at St. Andrew's United Church in Kaslo, a life member of the Canadian Legion, an officer of the I.O.D.E., and a leader in the Auxiliary of the Victorian Hospital. She was chosen "Citizen of the Year" in Kaslo in 1950. Following cremation the remains will be interred beside the burial site of her husband in the Kaslo cemetery.
