When he was 26 years of age, he moved to near Canton, S.D. On Feb 5, 1902, he was married to Ina Dortland of Parker, S.D. who survives him. In 1905, they homesteaded in the Bentley community, moving back to Canton in 1911. They returned to Bentley in 1917 where they continued to make their home until recently.
