NEW HARMONY - Mr. Hubert L. Barron, age 83, of New Harmony, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 27, 2007. Funeral services for Mr. Barron will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in the New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Caldwell and Rev. Walt Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in the New Harmony Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale.

He was born in Tyler on Sept. 11, 1924, to the late Bryan N. and Lola Gladys Cook Barron, and was a longtime resident of the New Harmony Community. Mr. Barron served in the United States Army during World War II and served as Deacon for the New Harmony Baptist Church for well over 40 years. He retired in 1981 as a Plant Assigner from Southwestern Bell Telephone, after working for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Mrs. Dorothy J. Barron in 1997; brother, Bill Barron; and by son-in-law, Bill Gwatney.

Mr. Barron is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Bobby Wells of Lindale; Donna and Larry Osborne of Crowley, and Linda Gwatney of Fruita, Colo.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Myrick and husband Alan of Little Rock, Ark,, Chris Wells of China, and Brian Gwatney of Fruita, Colo.; and by two nieces, Vicki Kruschwitz of Waco, and Debbie Rhodes of Baytown.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Osborne, Bobby Wells, Chris Wells, Glen Weaver, Ben Weaver and Russ Jackson.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. John W. Scroggins, Dr. J. Daniel Jackman, Dr. Terry Woodard, and all the caring people of Garden Estates and Heritage Home Health who cared for Mr. Barron.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Lindale. Memorials may also be made to the New Harmony Baptist Church.
