Lt. LaVerne Paul Rissinger died as a result of a airplane crash in Bovingdon, Hart, England on December 9, 1943. Lt. Rissinger was born in the town of Gainesville, February 9, 1917, the son of Paul and Marjorie Reed Rissinger.
He was a 1933 Bliss High graduate, an employee of Buffalo Forge Company. He served a year in USA Engineers at Ft. Belvior, Va., enlisted in the USAAF in April 1942 receiving his wings and commission March 25, 1943 at Moody Field. He was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church and Pike Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Mrs. Robert Sanford of Williamsville. April 1946: Services were conducted by Rev. Clayton Fulton at the Hermitage Baptist Church for Lt. LaVerne Rissinger, a former pilot of the US Air Corps who lost his life during WW II. The Bliss American Legion assisted with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville.
