Funeral services for T. Stanley Moorehead, 81, who had been associated the The Jeffersonian nearly 70 years, serving as president and general manager 14 years and later as chairman of the board, will be held Tuesday at 1;30 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home. His pastor, the Rev. Donald Shuler, of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Northwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
Mr. Moorehead died at his home, 1002 Gomber Ave., about 3 a.m. Sunday, apparently having succumbed in his sleep. His death was unexpected, although he had been in declining health.
Born January 20, 1891, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Henderson and Julia Bean Moorehead, as was a devout member of the First Baptist Church. He attended Cambridge schools and Denison University where he was a member of Mu chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Mr. Moorehead started with The Jeffersonian on May 30, 1902, as a schoolboy, delivering the paper to subscribers on the southside of town. After attending Denison one year, he returned to Cambridge and accepted a full time position with The Jeffersonian, serving in various capacities, becoming head of the organization in January of 1953. He retired January 10, 1967, when he was elected chairman of the board, a position he held until his death.
