DUBOIS - Mike Barczewski departed this life at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in Pinckneyville Community Hospital. He was 86 years and nine months.

Mr. Barczewski was born May 8, 1922, in Pilot Knob Township in Washington County, the son of John and Rose (Niedbalski) Barczewski. He was united in marriage to Lucille Kania on June 7, 1947, at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois, and she survives his passing.

Mike worked as an independent milk hauler, owned and operated a grocery store in DuBois, and also worked at Washington County Conservation Area for many years. He was the Republican precinct committeeman and served as Bolo Township road commissioner for 42 years.

He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois, and he was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife Lucille Barczewski of DuBois; six children, Cathy Kuberski and her friend, Steve Brink, of Centralia, Rich Barczewski of Nashville, Fred Barczewski and his wife, Tracy, of DuBois, Dave Barczewski and his wife, Erna, of Pinckneyville, Cindy Wienstroer and her husband, Paul, of Nashville and Angie Huff of DuBois; five brothers and sisters, Ann Maszka of Chicago, Sophie Kostecki of Nashville, Dorothy Czerniejewski and her husband, Walter, of Smithton, Eugene Barczewski and his wife, Esther, of Nashville and Leo Barczewski and his wife, Shirley, of Rogers, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Caroline Barczewski of LaPeer, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, Jason Kuberski and his wife, Amanda, Timothy, Brandon, Cheney, Adam, Brianna and Megan Barczewski, Brittney and Matthew Huff and Desiree' and Emili Haley; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Austin and Brayden Kuberski and Jacoby Haley; nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Barczewski; granddaughter, Heddi Haley; a sister, Veronica Kruczek; and a brother, John Barczewski.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, in St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois, with Father Oliver Nwachukwu officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, and 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday at Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville.

The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Should friends desire, Mass offerings or memorial contributions can be made to St. Charles Catholic Church improvement fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
