"HERE LIES THE BODY OF JOSEPH WILLIS AGED 60 DIED IN THE YEAR 1704 JANUARY THE 31ST"
Joesph Willis built The Joesph Willis House in 1689 in Taunton, Mass. He was Taunton Town Constable 1679; Selectmen in 1702. He was the son of Deacon John Willis and Elizabeth Hodgkins Palmer. He fought in the King Williams War; and probably the King Phillips War.
He married Sarah Lincoln, daughter of Thomas Lincoln "The Miller", Baptized Dec.1645 in Hingham, MA. She married Joesph Willis and they have two sons listed in the will of Thomas Lincoln The Miller dater August 28,1683; proved March 5, 1684. Their names are Joseph Willis Jr. and Thomas Willis.
