WELLINGTON - Woodrow Farris Wood, 68, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with his family conducting the services. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home.
Farris was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Wellington to Woodrow Wilson and Ellen Mae Williams Wood. He married Vada Bell on Nov. 25, 1959, in Wellington. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1958 and attended West Texas A&M University.
He served six years in the Texas National Guard and was a former director of the Collingsworth County Farm Bureau, active in the American Ag Movement, a member of the Wellington Motorcycle Club and a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Duncan; and a brother, Joe Wood.
Survivors include his wife, Vada Wood; a son, Channy Wood and wife Edwina of Amarillo; two daughters, Debra Harbour and husband Ted of Southlake and Dr. Vanda Pauwels and husband Kevin of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, Austin, Vada and Dalton Harbour, Jon Edward and Wilson Pauwels, Chanel and Chancellor Wood and Caitlin Murphy.
The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114-7448; or Wellington Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 321, Wellington, TX 79095-0321.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
