Son of Rachel Tomlinson and Moses Doan, Sr.(6) Joseph Doan, Sr.(5), Israel(4), Daniel(3), Daniel(2), Deacon John Doane(1). He was nearly three years old when his father was killed in Halsey's Tavern. He lived with his uncle, Samuel Tomlinson, who gave him a trade, a horse and promise that "he would do well by him." The uncle died without a will, leaving his promise unfulfilled. He was married to Mary Comfort on 22 Jun 1808 [should be 23 Jun 1808] in Falls Township. After his marriage, Mr. Doan settled first in Falls Township where he purchased a farm for twenty-five hundred dollars. Yielding to the persuasion of his uncle, Joseph Doan the refugee, he migrated to Canada sometime after 1823. He lived in Canada only about one year when he returned and settled in Wheatland where he died.
