Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Backus, 94, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 18, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Ralph M. Walters officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.
A resident of Palacios from 1906 to 1969 when she moved to Kansas, she died Friday, June 16, in Lincolnville, Kansas.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Herman Bentz of Hillsboro, Kans., Mrs. Harvey Nusez of Sweeny and Mrs. Tommy Sheeran of Hebbronville; one son, George Backus of Conroe; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Mae Herrinton of Kansas, Mrs. Martha Teetzen of Tampa, Kans. and Mrs. Clara Riffel of Rock Island, Ill. and one brother, Carl Kuhn of Hope, Kansas.
