Lewis Alfred (or Alexander?) Rominger was the eldest of ten known children of Alfred Edward Rominger (1824-1895) and Elizabeth Styers (sometimes seen as Star) (1823-1911), who married 06 Jan 1845 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Lewis married Druzella (often seen as Drusilla) Taylor (some sources say Wilson) (1847-1928) on 24 Dec 1865 at Johnson County, Tennessee. Lewis and Druzella were the parents of ten known children, namely:

1. Kesiah E. Rominger Bristol (1867-1926)
2. John A. Rominger (1869-1869)
3. Sarah Jane Rominger Eldridge (1871-1925)
4. James Alfred Rominger (1874-1931)
5. Mary Ellen Rominger Rierson (1878-1948)
