Charles was born in Michigan before moving to Toledo, Ohio. Charlie was a tall, lanky man. He served in the Motor Transport Corps in World War I. He married Aileen M. Forquer of Toledo on Oct 11, 1921 at Detroit Michigan. I appears that this was Charles second marriage as he was listed as divorced in the 1920 census. Charles was gassed while serving in the motor corps in the first World War and his doctor recommended that he moved to a drier more temperate climate to ease his breathing so he relocated to the desert of Southern California first to Englewood area of Los Angeles and then to San Diego County where he died in 1963, three years prior to Aileen.
