He played as a defensive lineman in the National Football League for eight seasons (1946 to 1953), with the New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns. An All-American lineman from Texas Christian University, he signed with the New York Yankees of the All-American Conference in 1946. Traded to the Browns in 1948, he was a member of the team's All-American Conference win in 1949 and the Browns NFL title win in 1950, after the two pro leagues merged.
