Thomas Paton Allen (Pate) was born in Tennessee. He was a farmer and a stock raiser. His father, Hudson Allen, was the first school teacher in Round Rock, Texas and in Williamson County, Texas. His grandfather, Nathaniel Allen, was a Lieutenant in the Prince Edward Virginia militia and he was ordained by Francis Asbury, one of the first two Methodist Bishops in America.
He married Eliza Rupe about 1847. Eliza was the daughter of William A. Rupe/Roupe and Jane Ferguson. William was a postmaster in Mississippi, was in the War of 1812, and was one of the first pioneers of Roupe's Valley, Alabama. Roupe's Valley was named after him. Later, they moved to Goliad, Texas, where he was a stick raiser. His name is mentioned in several books about Roupe's Valley and also in the Trail Drivers of Texas.
At this time, it is unknown where Eliza is buried. She most likely is buried in Williamson County as that is the last location known.
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord,
from hence forth. Yea sayeth the Spirit.
