He was born on Cowhouse Island in the Okefenokee Swamp, the son of the late Jonathan David Hickox (CSA) and Lucinda "Loucy" Green (Jones) Hickox. He was founder of the town of Hickox and was Postmaster there. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 40 years.
His wife was Mary Magdalene Strickland Hickox and she predeceased him in 1937 and was buried in Enon Cemetery in Pierce County.
Services for Mr. Hickox were held at High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church on Thursday, Apr. 6.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
