My Uncle Tom would be really mad at me for putting his middle name that he hated up here for everyone to see.

He was the son of Marcus "Darrell" Carter and Edith "Ruth" Lytle Carter. Brother of Beatrice, Barbara and half brother Edward.
Uncle Tom was born at home in Taylor Michigan on Baraga Street. After his mothers death when he was two years old he was sent to Tunas Missouri to live with his Uncle Raymond Carter, his fathers brother and his Aunt Mary Lytle Carter, his mothers sister. When he got older he returned to Michigan but I don't think he ever really considered anyplace home until he moved to Kansas.
My Uncle Tom was a very sensitive loving man.
He worked on the farm in Missouri when he was a boy, as a construction worker in Florida as a young man, in heating and air conditioning in Phoenix and on the oil rigs in Kansas before he became a manager for Motel 6, he managed several motels in the Oklahoma and Texas areas for many years until he retired and returned to Kansas.
While living in Texas he had open heart surgery while in his early 50's.
Tom married to Sherry Unknown about 1973. That marriage didn't last very long. He then married Flora Hamilton in Wichita Kansas on Dec. 2, 1978, they were married until her death in 1998. He then married Carmen Smith who he was married to until his death.
Tom had one daughter named Susan, one granddaughter Brittany and one grandson Zachary but, he considered the children and grandchildren of his wife Carmen as much his children and grandchildren as he did his own.
Tom fractured his hip and had surgery on Sunday, Feb 15, 2009. While in the hospital he became very sick his wife repeatedly asked the nurse to have his personal doctor which was in the same building called to come see what what wrong. The nurse never called the doctor according to him. Tom died on the following Friday of internal bleeding and a heart attack while still in the Galicha hospital.
He was an organ donor.
