Born Chester Noyes Bulger, he played at the tackle position for nine seasons (1942 to 1950) in the National Football League with the Chicago Cardinals, Chicago-Pittsburgh Car-Pitts and Detroit Lions. He was a member of the 1947 NFL Champion Cardinals' Team. His other notable career highlights include three-time All-Pro status (1943, 1945 and 1948). After playing collegiate football at Auburn University, he was signed as an undrafted player by the Cardinals and appeared in 86 career regular season games. After retiring as a player, Bulger taught and coached at De La Salle Institute in Chicago. He died from natural causes. (bio by: C.S.)
