Tony Myron Carr was born on June 21, 1950, at Oklahoma City, Okla., to Billy Myron and Sadie Mae (Wood) Carr. He passed from this life at the age of 58 years on Tuesday night, Feb. 17, 2009, at his home in Ardmore surrounded by his family.
Tony grew up and attended school in Newcastle, graduating from there in 1968. During school, he was involved in FFA and his senior year he received the State Farmer Degree. Tony attended OSU and was a member of the Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program. He went on a 21-day trip to Brazil to study farming along the Amazon River. He married Ruth Ann on June 2, 1970, at Tuttle, Okla. In 1970, Tony's family bought land north of Maysville and started the Carr Family Farms where Tony worked on the dairy and farmed. Tony was a member of the Associated Milk Producers and was named Cooperator of the Year.
In 2003 his wife, Ruth Ann, became the superintendent of Ardmore Schools, and they moved there to live. Tony enjoyed fishing, hunting, grilling outside for his family, OSU and Ardmore sports and tolerated OU basketball and football. He enjoyed following his children with their livestock shows while they were in school. Tony really enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson Kort. He was saved and baptized April 19, 1959, at Newcastle, and most recently was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore. Tony was a past Sunday School teacher, pulpit committee member and Sunday School Superintendent. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Ruth Ann of the home in Ardmore; his parents, Bill and Sadie Carr of Maysville; son, Ty Carr and his wife Courtney of Ardmore; daughters, Kayla Nicholson and her husband Kent of Norman and Kristen Carr of Oklahoma City; a grandson, Kort Nicholson; brothers, Terry Carr and his wife Sherry of Maysville and Tim Carr and his wife Dana of Maysville; mother-in-law, Elwina Marlow of Tuttle; brother-in-law, Chris Marlow and his wife Gail of Norman; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends made throughout the years.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, Okla. Dr. Alton Fannin, Rev. Cletis Lee, Rev. Ralph Chapman and Rev. Charles Henthorn will officiate with burial in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, Okla., at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Okla.
