Born Heinrich Frederich Kruger, son of Frederick & Louisa (Brinkmann) Kruger of Fulme, near Eisbergen, Porta Westphalica, Westphalia, Germany. Immigrated from Bremen to Alexandia, Missouri, via New Orleans in about 1860. First settled in Alexandria, Clark County, Missouri, where he worked in a pork packinghouse.
Then he moved across the Des Moines River to Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa, where he became a teamster. He was married to Louisa Broek by Rev. Willis C. Craig in Keokuk on 19 May 1867, witness Isaac Bloom.
For over 16 years he was janitor for the Carey School. Toward the end of his life he had been engaged in farming on the Smith Hamil farm north of town on Belnap Boulevard. He was a member of the Herman Lodge, I.O.O.F.
He is survived by his wife and children: Mrs. Ernest Pflug, Mrs. Gus Pflug, Mrs. M. Roseberry of Rock Island, Miss Mabel Krueger, Charles Krueger, Henry Krueger and Fred Krueger.

His obituary:
HENRY KRUEGER DIED TUESDAY.
He was Janitor for the Carey School for over Sixteen Years and Was Well Known. Yesterday morning at 7:10 o'clock occurred the death of Henry Krueger at his home, 1217 Des Moines street, of cancer of the liver, at the ageof sixty-two years. He had been in bed only one week prior to his death, but he had been complaining for several weeks. Henry Krueger was born June 8, 1832 in Westphalia, Prussia, where he lived until 1860. In that year he came to this country and settled first at Alexandria, Mo. At this place he resided about four years when he came to this city, sincemaking Keokuk his home. For over sixteen years he was janitor of the Carey school and prior to that he was a teamster in this city. Of late he had been engaged at farming on the Smith Hamill farm north of town on Belknap boulevard. Mr. Krueger had many friends in this city and to them his death is a sad loss. He was a member of herman lodge I.O.O.F. Those left to survive him are his wife, Louisa Krueger; children, Mrs. Ernest Pflug, Mrs. Gus Pflug, Mrs. M. Roseberry of Rock Island, Miss Mabel Krueger, Charles Krueger, Henry Krueger and Fred krueger. The Daily gate City. March 7, 1900..
