The funeral for Arthur J. Montroy, 85, a resident of St. Joseph's Nursing Home, formerly of Hammond, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, Morristown, with the Rev. Kevin D. McEwan officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Montroy died Monday February 16, 2009 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home.

He was employed as a millwright at the Diamond National Corp. for 32 years and later became employed as a custodian and bus driver for Morristown Central School.

Born Sept. 10, 1923, in Ogdensburg, son of Arthur and Kathleen Pollard Montroy, he attended Ogdensburg Free Academy.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and was stationed in the South Pacific on the USS Euryale until his discharge in 1945.

He married Dorothy I. Morrow on May 8, 1943, at Notre Dame Church. She died Oct. 7, 2005.

Mr. Montroy was a parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church, a Morristown volunteer firefighter and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10515 and Barney Pond Hunting Club in South Colton.

He enjoyed bowling, four-wheeling with his son-in-law and great-grandson, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are four daughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Roland Lunderman, Lisbon, Sandra and John Eisenhart, North Charleston, S.C., Candace and Michael Murdock, Morriston, Fla., and Kathleen and Floyd Krack, Hammond; a half-brother, Joseph Celenzo, and his companion, Laurie, Theresa; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A sister, Edith Demers, and a granddaughter died before him.

Donations may be made to St. Joseph's Nursing Home.
