Bob was born on August 16, 1946, in Davenport, to Hilbert and Agnes (Curtis) Mills. Bob worked 25 years at Oscar Mayer, retiring in 1996. He was a 1965 graduate of Davenport West High. He had a tremendous love for the outdoors spending many hours camping, hunting, fishing, and mushroom and gin-seng hunting with his children and good friends.
Bob had an amazing love and respect for all creatures big and small. Some of Bob's favorite past-times were gardening, yard-saling and shopping for "hidden treasures" at the Goodwill store. He was also very active coaching all three of his children in Dad's Club softball. He was a past member of the Walcott Jaycees and was active in his small community of Walcott always offering his time and energy to work food shacks at the ball parks, or help assemble new playground equipment for the school, drive a van full of Girl Scouts to their campground, or clean up the parks after Walcott Days, or just catch a squirrel running wild in a neighbor's attic.
Bob was united in marriage to Pamela Johnson on May 29, 1965, in Davenport.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Pam, Davenport; sons, Robert (Bobby), Davenport, and Jason, Walcott; daughter, Sarah, Walcott; granddaughter, Jeighce Marland, Lowden, Iowa; his mother, Agnes Mills, Bettendorf; sister, Doris Baker, Davenport; half sister, Pat Schaffer; brothers, Bill, Blue Grass, Richard, Davenport, and Ron, of Florida; and his loving and faithful dog, Oliver. He was preceded in death by his father and niece, Angie Mills.
Bob was one of my ex husbands best friends. He and his wife Pam went with us on our Honeymoon. We wouldn't have had such a great fun time if they hadn't gone along. Bob had such a great sense of humor and always kept me in stitches.
