Special to the Tribune:
OGDEN, Oct 27. - Claud B.Ives (sic) received a telegram from Seattle tonight which said that a cablegram had just been received here from Valdez, Alaska, announcing the death of his brother William B. Ives by drowning. No particulars were given. Mr. Ives has wired north in an endeavor to ascertain the particulars of his brother's death.
Bruce Ives, as he was familiarly called, was 30 years old. He was born at Independence, Kan., and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman H. Ives, and has resided in Ogden off and on for about fifteen years. He was widely known here and was very popular with all who knew him. For two years he was in the grocery business in this city, selling out about a year ago and starting for Alaska. During the intervening time he has been on the coast, leaving a short time ago for Alaska. The last letter received from him came from Seattle and announced that he was going North. He did not say where, but it was presumed that he was going to join his brother in the Alaskan interior.
