Son of Lena and Joseph W. Mix. Technical Sergeant Joseph E. Mix, Serial Number 39083291, was a Flight Engineer for the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was killed in action in Operation Tidal Wave, just south of his target in Campina (near Ploesti), Romania.
Received the Distinguished Unit Citation, Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart.
