Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker.
She was born Oct. 2, 1916, in McLeansboro, a daughter of Harry Grover and Nora Meg (Gibbs) Gunter. She married Carl Leslie Nelson on Oct. 1, 1938, in Morganfield, Ky.; he preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home. The Revs. Robert Sefried, Billie Duncan and Mark Byars will officiate.
Interment will be at Oddfellows Cemetery, McLeansboro.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Nelson of McLeansboro and Melvin Nelson of Flannigan; one daughter, Nancy Nylander and husband Robert of Pontiac; five grandchildren, Lisa, Amy, Tammy, Kimberly and Steven; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Lewis of LaPorte, Ind., and Ruby Duncan and her husband the Rev. Billie Duncan of Carmi; and brother-in-law Vernon Hollister of McLeansboro.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of First Baptist Church, McLeansboro, and was a church nursery caretaker for 37 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, McLeansboro.
