Anna "Annie" Crank was born in Morgan County, IN on 10 Apr 1857. She was the daughter of William Sylvester Crank and Lydia Bryant. Annie married Joseph Henry Diel in Clay County, IN on 4 May 1876. Together, they were the parents of Dora and Joseph.

MRS. ANNIE E. DIEL

BRAZIL, Ind., Feb. 10. - Mrs. Annie E. Diel, widow of the late Henry J. Diel, died at 10:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. D. Wilder, 704 North Meridian street, of general disability at the age of 80 years. Mrs. Diel had been in falling health for several years and her condition had been serious for several weeks. The deceased was born in Morgan county, Indiana, but she had been a resident of this city since a girl. She was a daughter of William and Lydia Crank, who settled in Brazil when Mrs. Diel was 15 years old and she had been a continuous resident of the city for more than 65 years. For a number of years the deceased had resided west of the city in Posey township but for the past six months had made her home in this city with her daughter. She was a member of the First M. E. church and until her falling health interfered had been a regular attendant at services and a highly esteemed worker in the church societies. Mrs. Diel is survived by a daughter and son., Mrs. E. D. Wilder, city, and Joseph Diel, Detroit; also four grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother, William Crank, of Robinson, Ill. and several nieces and nephews. The body was prepared for burial at Miller & Sons' funeral home and will be returned Thursday evening to the Wilder residence where friends may call. Private funeral services will be held at the home of the daughter at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon and interment will be made at Cottage Hill cemetery.
