Myrl Criffield, 91, of Hazard died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 at Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Services were 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at United Methodist Church in Hazard with Rev. Valera Heydenberk officiating.
Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna.
Myrl Criffield was born Sept. 7, 1917 to Frank and Lydia (Capellen) Criffield in Sherman County.
He married Leona Keldsen on Aug. 25, 1936 in Kearney.
The couple made their home on a farm in Sherman County. They retired and moved to Hazard in 1991.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, in 1997.
Maintaining family ties was very important to him and he cherished the time spent with his family.
He was proud to be a farmer, was a great steward of the land and he was never too busy to help others.
His optimistic attitude was unwavering and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He brought joy to those around him with his mischievous smile and teasing manner.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bob Tesmer of Hazard; grandchildren, David Peck and his wife, Pat of Olathe, Kans., Teri Michael of Las Vegas, Nev., Mike Tesmer of Las Vegas, Nev. and Corey Tesmer of Seward and
great grandchildren, Matthew Musil of Las Vegas, Nev., Zachary Peck, U.S. Navy, Virginia Beach, Va., Melissa Peck of Olathe, Kans. and Shawn Peck, U.S. Marine Corps, San Diego, Calif. and a cousin, Eli Criffield of Loup City.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy, Bernard, Ollie and Ira and a sister, Violet Ulmer.
Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna was in charge of arrangements.
