In 1830 he was sent to the U.S. He graduated in Amsherst in 1837. Having subsequently studied at Andover he was in 1839 ordained to the ministry by the Congregational church and became then a missionary in Turkey. Later he taught natural sciences, Greek and modern languages at Ingham University, Le Roy, N.Y. He edited several works in Armenian.
