Tinker was my mother's cousin. I'm not going to say he was her favorite but his name comes up in quite a few of the stories from her childhood!

My only memory of Tinker occured when his Mother, my Papa's beloved baby sister, died. There were so many people at the house after Aunt Florence's service and Tinker just had to get away. He grabbed his daughter, who had been named for his two older sisters who had died as young children, my mother, and me and took us into Washington D.C. It was early January and the city was all but abandoned because of the Christmas holiday but it was still beautiful.

Tinker graduated from Groveton High School and served with United States Air Force in Vietnam. Tinker was a member of Carpenters Union Local 132 and past member of Lorton Volunteer Fire Department.

Tinker is survived by his wife, Tish; daughter, Brenda Gayle Massey (Patrick); grandson, Cooper Morris Nelson Massey; step-father, Vernon "Booter" Beach; sister, Beverly Davidson; nephew, Griffin Creed Smalfelt.

Tinker was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Thompson Beach; father, Merkley Pugh; and sisters, Brenda Irene and Gayle Dolores Pugh.
