Services for Lewis A. Knapp, 78, were held at the Mills church February 14th, with Rev. Locher of Burke officiating. Burial was mad ein the Mills cemetery beside his wife.
Lewis Andrew Knapp, only son of Ira and Nancy Knapp, was born at Benton, Iowa, October 14, 1870, and passed away at the Bassett hospital following a long illness February 11, 1949, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 27 days.
He moved with his parents from Iowa to Keya Paha county to a farm near Mills where he resided until the time of his death.
He was united in marriage to Bertha L. Wiley, March 4, 1896, at Springview.
He leaves to mourn his passing his six children: five daughters, Mrs. Ed Knievel (Ona) and Mrs. J. C. Wicker (Josephine), of St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Emmett Doyle (Goldye) of Brocksburg, Mrs. Rex Doyle (Jean) of Mills, Mrs. George Lingo (Maxine) of Mills; one son, Orrace Knapp of Long Pine; twenty granchildren, twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lennie Sellman of Keota, Iowa, Mrs. Mabel Chapin of Omaha; also many other relative and friends.
His wife preceded him in death three years ago.
He was a kind and loving father and acquired a large acquaintance in this and surrounding communities.
Pallbearers and flower carriers were: Walter Ludeman, Fred G. Steppat, Glendon Rowan, Mike McCumber, Earl Sylvester, John Schrader, Francis Sanden, Joy Sharp and Wm. Lingenfelter.
