Birth: Mar. 23, 1880
Death: Dec. 26, 1943

US Congressman, 46th Governor of Mississippi. After studying law, he opened a practice in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and from 1907 to 1908 served as the city judge. He was appointed circuit judge of the 12th judicial district in 1910, and was later elected in 1911 and 1915. In 1918, he was successful in his bid to become the US Congressman for Mississippi's sixth district, serving three terms. Johnson was elected Governor in 1939, after two unsuccessful attempts.
