Williamson Parks Strickland, one of Rev. Simeon Strickland's seven children, was born 22 July 22 1824 in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia and died 03 April 1897 in Douglasville, Douglas County. Parks married Mary Amanda McLarty , who was born 01 July 1928 in Mecklenburg, North Carolina and died 18 June 1906 in Douglas County. They married on 23 April 1845 in Fulton County. In 1850 and 1860, they lived in District 10, Campbell County.

Parks enlisted 04 March 1862 as first Lieutenant, 41st Regiment, Georgia Infantry, CSA. In 1870 the family lived in the Chestnut Log District and on the 1880 Federal Census, the family is listed in the Salt Springs District of Douglas County. In the 1880's, he served as a city councilman in Douglasville and made his home on Strickland Street. From the Book "The History of Dark Corner" by John B.
