Lifelong Resident of County Is Victim of Short Illness; Funeral Held Tuesday.
Mrs. Bremer Abraham died at her home here Saturday night, Nov 7, 1931, at 11:30 o'clock following an illness of eight days. Death was due to gall bladder trouble and complications.
The funeral was held from the George Kaiser chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Herbert Temple of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Harlington cemetery.
Before her marriage Mrs. Abraham was Clara E. Grover. She was born in Lafayette township, April 23, 1872, the daughter of Willard S. and Caroline Grover, early settlers in Bremer county. When she was thirteen years old her mother died and the duty of looking after her father's home was taken up by her. She not only managed the home affairs but also attended rural school in that neighborhood.
She continued to live at the home of her father until Nov. 1, 1893, when she was united in marriage with Bremer Abraham of Lafayette township. Following their marriage they went to housekeeping on their farm in that township. They lived there until six years ago when they retired and moved to Waverly.
Mrs. Abraham was a life-long member of the Methodist Episcopal church and belonged to the Royal Neighbors. She took an active interest in Red Cross work. In 1908, while living on the farm, she lost her right hand. She was picking berries when a thorn from a bush penetrated one of her fingers on the right hand. Infection set in and after a number of operations the arm was taken off near the shoulder. Mrs. Abraham was in the hospital from August until In November of that year.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, J. G. Abraham and one daughter, Mrs. George Tapp.
