George D. Lewis, 81, of Zanesville, died at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, October 12, 2008 at his residence. He was born October 20, 1926, in Zanesville, a son of the late John Albert and Christine Lewis. He was a retired foreman for Ohio Power, was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Amity Masonic Lodge #5 F&AM and the Freeland Gas Engine Club and he was a US Navy World War II Veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Cloreen Bailey Lewis of the home; a son, George (Penne) Lewis of Durham, North Carolina; several step children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Bess Clark and several sisters and brothers.

Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Masonic Lodge services being held at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Lee Ann Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, near Sonora.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 400 Pleasant Grove Road, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701 or to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
