Joyce Jorgensen (nee Leva Joyce Sutter), loving, devoted and truly kind wife, mother, grandmother and teacher, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015. Born January 14, 1918 to John Carl Sutter and Leva Hooten in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joyce was the oldest of five brothers and sisters. She graduated with a B.S. from East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma with a degree in education. As an independent young woman she worked at the Douglas Aircraft Company plant in Oklahoma building C-47s during WWII, then traveled and settled in Riverton, Wyoming where she met her future husband, Harold Jorgensen (m. 1953). The couple raised two children in the Chicago suburbs where Joyce was a special education teacher. In retirement Harold and Joyce moved to Longmont, Colorado to be near family. Joyce spent her free time reading voraciously and researching her family tree, and was a member of the Longmont Genealogical Society. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Harold. She is survived by her daughters Linda J. Martens (Michael) and Cynthia L. Jorgensen (Rick Leavy); four grandchildren: Emily J. Martens, Andrew T. Martens, Jake J. Leavy, and Noah J. Leavy; her brother, Robert Sutter (Carlene) of Lafayette, Louisiana, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. Burial will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
