Army Reports First GI Death of Encephalitis
Deceased Name: Korea. Sgt. Fulton D. Bro
SEOUL, Korea, Sept. 26 (AP) -- The United States army Monday reported the first death this year of an American service man from encephalitis -- a sleeping sickness that frequently reaches epidemic proportions in Korea. Sgt. Fulton D. Bro, 33, of Colorado Springs, died last Friday at an army hospital six days after being stricken. Bro is survived by his widow, Phyllis.

Fulton David Bro Jr. was born in Kansas and was the grandson of Kansas Pioneer Fred J. Rehling and great-grandson of Kansas Pioneers Julius Bro and wife Mary, and Henry Gilbert Baldwin and wife Ellen Serepta Fisher. Fred J. Rehling was an immigrant to America in 1885 from Germany. Julius Bro was an immigrant from French Canada by 1875. His wife Mary (___) was born in New York. Henry G and Ellen Serepta (Fisher) Baldwin were descendants of Puritan immigrants to Massachusetts from England in the 1600's.
