VANCOUVER- Walter Junior Humes, a retired construction carpenter, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Southwest Washington Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. Humes, who lived in Vancouver for the past 55 years, was born March 19, 1924, in Sawyer, N.D.

Mr. Humes was a member of Western Wood Carvers Association and Washington old Time Strings. He loved to dance and travel. He was an Army Air Cops veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, VIOLET M., at home; two sons, Raymond E. of Bremerton and Alan L. of Camas; one sister, Betty Krause of Olympia; three brothers, Les, Leo and Leon, all of Vancouver; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
