His obituary in the Kokomo Tribune, Jan 8, 2006 reads: Fred B. Kearney, Kokomo, gave up his life at 1:47 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital before his 91st birthday on Tuesday. He was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Chicago, the son of George H. and Gertrude (Cunningham) Kearney.
He had been a resident of Shelbyville, where he graduated from high school. Then his family moved to Marion. He later became an employee of Delco Electronics for 40 years. In 1942, he married Dorothy (Touby) Kearney. He completed his service in World War II in the Pacific Area. Following that, he and Dorothy enjoyed a rich life together for 63 years. He was an enthusiastic member and Elder of Northview Christian Church and an active supporter in its Brotherhood affiliations, Christian Men?s Fellowship, Disciple Amateur Radio Fellowship, Christian Theological Seminary, Area and Regional boards. He was a former president and member of Northwestern Lions Club. One of his favorite philanthropies was Habitat for Humanity, for which he wrote a song and presented each Habitat family with a Bible. He was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed writing poetry and songs as his hobby.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, Kokomo; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Pauline Kearney, Kokomo; a daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Kent Tudor, Ohio; grandchildren, Matt and Kelley Kearney, Kokomo, Jennifer and Dan Hedrick, Ohio, Kari Tudor and Nate Tudor of Ohio. He was especially happy for his great-grandchildren, Ethan Kearney, Elise and Kylie Hedrick. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Northview Christian Church, 2059 North 100 East, with Pastor Charles Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northview Christian Church or to Habitat for Humanity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
