He played at the right-end and flanker positions for ten seasons in the National Football League (1951 to 1960) with the San Francisco 49ers. His career highlights include five-time All-Pro recognition (1954 to 1958), six-time Pro Bowl selection (1954 to 1959) and three-time league leader in receptions (1954 with 60, 1956 with 60 and 1957 with 52). After playing collegiate football at San Jose State University, Wilson was chosen by the 49ers in the 22nd round of the 1950 NFL Draft. He appeared in 100 career regular season games, with 407 receptions for 5,902 yards and 49 touchdowns. After retiring as a player, he served as an assistant coach and scout with the 49ers. He died from cancer.
