Robert Joseph "Bob" Kane
Birth: Nov. 1, 1940
Connecticut, USA
Death: Jul. 11, 2002
Warm Springs
Jefferson County
Oregon, USA

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the son of John R. Kane and Margaret Morgan.

Bob was my step-dad, my mother's 3rd husband. He was a cranky and grouchy guy to those that didn't meet his expectations. Fortunately I was one of the few he took into his little circle. He was always willing to do whatever I needed help with and was a great step-dad. He always called me his "Daughter Number Two".

On his last Father's Day, he got a real kick out of the card I gave him which said, "You've become so much a father to me ... that I find myself rolling my eyes when you talk." He sat the card down beside him as he lounged in his recliner to watch Nascar with a plate of cheese and crackers. He politely refused the summer sausage I gave him for Father's Day because, evidently, anything with more than 2 shakes of pepper is too spicy.

Bob worked for several years as a motorcycle mechanic and upgraded and repaired Harley-Davidson's. He wouldn't ride a Harley however, although he was happy they broke down enough to keep him in business.

The last few years of his life he was a forklift mechanic at several different businesses.

On July 11, 2002, he drove to Bend, Oregon to the place he scattered his wife, Patty's, ashes. It was an anniversary of her death and he wanted to pay his respects to her memory by placing daisies where her remains were scattered. On the way back over the mountain he lost control of his motorcycle and ran off the road and was killed. We couldn't believe this as he was a biker for many years and even belonged to a few biker's groups.

He is deeply missed by both of his daughter, Terry Braun and myself.

Nine months later his wife Becky, my mother, would join him in heaven. Bob's remains were scattered where he scattered Patty's.

We miss you Bob.
