James Otto Reaney, 75, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday in Tallahassee following an extended illness.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sasser-Morgan-McClellan Funeral Home in Quincy

A native of Corbett, Ky., he had lived in the Quincy area since 1956. He was the owner of Reaney Scrap Metal and a Navy veteran of World War II, having survived the attack on Pearl Harbor and been wounded during the Battle of Midway. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Marzuq Shrine Temple, Gee Lodge No. 21, F&AM, and Thomas Memorial
Church, where he had also taught Sunday school.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Reaney of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Sharon Crawley of Tallahassee and Charlene Rushing of Lafayette, La.; a sister, Irene Miller of Trenton, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
