Retired from Cherokee Memorial Hospital
BLACKSBURG - Evelyn Geneva Roark, 85, of 614 Tribal Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at Brookview HealthCare, Gaffney.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Harry P. Roark and daughter of the late Rufus Hatcher Hamrick and Lois Neal Hamrick. She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church and was retired from Cherokee Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Joey Crawford and husband, Doug, and Debbie Duffie and husband, Dean, all of Blacksburg; great-grandchildren, Chase Crawford, Whitney C. Millwood and husband, Stephen, Cameron Duffie and Cody Duffie, all of Blacksburg; two brothers, James Hamrick of Georgia and Ed Hamrick of Blacksburg; and a sister, Helen Parker of Bessemer City, N.C.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Roark was preceded in death by her son, Phil Roark; and two brothers, Calvin Hamrick and Ken Hamrick.
A Celebration of Life service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Mt. Paran Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today at the church from 2-3 p.m. and at other times they will be at the home of Steve and Joanne Turner, 601 Tribal Road.
Pallbearers will be Chase Crawford, Cameron Duffie, Cody Duffie, Stephen Millwood, Billy Cartee and Craig Parker.
Mrs. Roark may be remembered with memorials to Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 105 Mt. Paran Road, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.
