Jacob Cox was a prominent artist originally from Philadelphia. In 1833, Cox came to Indianapolis and established himself as a successful businessman. Eventually, Cox opened his own studio in Indianapolis. He created portraits of at least four Indiana Governors. He also painted other prominent citizens.
